All Covered Up

Rather than a minimalist, bare and basic living space where everything one owns is quietly hidden, I very much like the idea of putting one's belongings on display as part of the decoration. Bookshelves filled to the brim, clothes on a rolling rack, shoes in a cabinet with glass doors, and finally, movies. DVDs are tiny posters hoping to be displayed. The Criterion Collection has especially beautiful DVD cases. When possible, I'll buy the Criterion version of a DVD because it has loads of bonus features and cool cover art. While daydreaming about an apartment with floating shelves to display my DVDs, I chose titles that stray from the traditional star-studded screenshot, look different in terms of color and content, but all somehow possess a cartoon-y theme.

The Darjeeling Limited (2007)

Wise Blood (1979)

Modern Times (1936)

Also, from now until August 1, Barnes and Noble is taking 50% off their Criterion Collection, so get buying!

  1. Dude, you probably already know this, but Wes Anderson's brother does all the drawings for his criterion covers. I think that's really cute.
