Nostalgia--it's delicate, but potent. Teddy told me that in Greek, "nostalgia" literally means "the pain from an old wound." It's a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone. This device isn't a spaceship, it's a time machine. It goes backwards, and forwards... it takes us to a place where we ache to go again. It's not called the wheel, it's called the carousel. It let's us travel the way a child travels - around and around, and back home again, to a place where we know are loved.

Every third Sunday, an antique market is held at the Veterans Stadium in Long Beach. I always work on Sunday, so I haven't been able to devote an entire day to it, but it's a really nice way to start a Sunday morning. These pictures are from last month, but I wanted to share some of what LB has to offer.
I saw a couple vintage Pepsi crates when I was there, something I first noticed at work, where they use them as decorative storage for the clothes on the floor. I really like the idea of going to flea markets to find furniture because everything has so much personality and history, and it makes one's living space unique. I had a disheartening Friends moment similar to when Rachel bought the apothecary table from Pottery Barn, but told Phoebe it was an antique. My manager told me that Pottery Barn sells vintage soda crates in "limited quantities." Granted, they're still vintage, but part of its specialness comes from having to hunt it down, right?
Even the most peculiar, unfashionable finds provide quirky inspiration.
that quote! makes me ache.
